Master Instrument-PLC Tech Instrumentation: Responsible for calibrating, specifying, purchasing, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining all instrumentation in the Bethlehem Plant · Make sure annual calibrations are completed and documented on all required instrumentation
· Repair instrumentation and valves as required; work with outside vendors to insure instrumentation is functioning properly
· Installs, tests, repairs, inspects, and maintains metering and recording instruments, controlling devices, data logging and display equipment, communications and telemetry systems; and performs related work as required.
· Serves as the resident expert for all instrumentation related issues.
· Respond to trouble calls and provide immediate response to support manufacturing operations
· Prepare calibration procedures for advanced analytical instrumentation and processes used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and QC laboratories
· Responds to emergency situations and has the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical equipment.
· May at times be required to be on-call for emergency contact.
· Ability to disassemble (tear-down) and rebuild instrumentation to manufacturer’s specifications.
VFDs: Responsible for specifying, purchasing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining all VFDs in the Bethlehem Plant
Projects: Responsible for calibrating, specifying, purchasing and maintaining all instrumentation in the Bethlehem Plant
· Specify and purchase new instruments
· Assist in preparation of PIDs for assigned projects
· Develop URS, FRS, and other protocols and documents as required, including IQ, OQ, PQ protocols
· Insure accurate completion of all validation documents such as IQ, OQ, PQ protocols.
· Assist in representing Minrad during factory acceptance testing (FAT) of equipment to be supported, maintained or calibrated.
· Design, develop and manage and complete instrument and automation projects as required
Automation: Responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, upgrading and documenting plant Rockwell PLC and HMI automation systems
· Troubleshoot existing PLC or DCS control systems.
· Provide training and prepare new programming related to PLC and HMI equipment.
· Assist in automating projects
· Insure GAMP compliance with all automation systems
· Tune loops as necessary
· Provide technical expertise and training to in-house and contracted technical staff.
· Develop and test ladder logic, structured text and function sequence blocks with PLC code
· Develop and test and implement SCADA/HMI systems
· Troubleshoot HMI, SCADA, and PLC software and hardware issues.
· Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of data collection systems including assisting users in getting easy access to data
Requirements: The Master Instrument-PLC Technician is an advanced journey level classification, requiring the incumbent to be fully competent to install, maintain, troubleshoot, document and repair a wide variety of industrial instrumentation, electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in a cGMP/cGXP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment including PLC, HMI, SCADA hardware and software.
· Completion of an Instrumentation (two-year) curriculum at a recognized technical school, military training or an Associate’s degree in a related Science or Engineering major is desired; however equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
· Candidate must be willing to work with their hands and get dirty in installing, calibrating and troubling shooting instrumentation.
· A minimum of ten years instrumentation, VFD, PLC and HMI experience, six of which is involves direct cGMP experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
· Candidate must be adept in set-up, troubleshooting, calibrating and repairing all kinds of process control instrumentation
· The incumbent must have a demonstrated proficiency in Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Logix PLC Programming and RSView Software.
· Proficiency in ISA standards and practices for instrumentation; in PID control theories and techniques; and in computer-aided manufacturing automation.
· Experience metrology and automation engineering principles and theories; factory acceptance testing of new equipment; and working on a cross-functional project teams.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Desktop computer software; networking, Ethernet and communication protocols
· The applicant must have the ability to read and interpret engineering documents and to produce shop schematics.
· Experience with data reporting tools is desirable
· This individual will be required to work with hazardous materials and chemicals, and work in environments that may include low, medium or high voltages.
· Solid knowledge of pneumatics, electro-mechanics, electro-pneumatics and has the ability to read schematics and drawings.
· Candidate must be able to report to work for call-ins for all shifts as well as working daily overtime, and required weekends in an emergency
